JOIN DATE: late September 2005
LOCATION: Currenly living in Lorton/Woodbridge VA area, work in Alexandria, VA (USA)
AGE: Somewhere between 30 and 80... depending on weather, mood, stuff at work...
INTERESTS: (in SL) -- building, exploring, shopping, dancing, business

(in RL) -- I like good conversation, good food, and good music: smooth jazz, "new age" instrumentals, classic rock, 60's folk music, some country music, and period classical and vocal music (harpsichord, recorder, Gregorian chants, madrigals). I'm not crazy about hip-hop or rap music, punk, or speed/death/thrash metal. When I buy current pop/rock, I find myself focusing on VOICES -- male voices with real depth or "texture" -- not the whiny, nasal tenors you hear on FM radio tracks right now -- recent purchases: CARBON LEAF and ALTER BRIDGE.

In SL, I was alot less interested in "virtual sex" than virtual FLIRTING. The sex can be so sordid, but flirting is always fun. It's unfortunate that there are so many younger teens (who should be on the TEEN GRID) in SL -- male teenagers are so desperate to get to the heavy-breathing stage, they have very little awareness of anything not directly related to themselves, as well as very little emotional balance, and their conversational abilities are abysmal.

I love wind chimes -- back in the WIN95 days, I had a great wind chimes program by a company named Syntrillium, but they were bought out by M$, so I can't use it anymore as my "relax & go to sleep" music. I can't sleep if there's anything with a melody playing -- my brain tries to follow the melody, and won't turn off (insomnia is bad enough for me -- I wish my brain had an "off" button that would just turn off all the mental "noise" and let me sleep), so the CHIMES program was a godsend. It also had another program paired with it: KALEIDOSCOPE, which would produce patterns in time with the CHIMES. Really GREAT programs. Apparently the KALIEIDOSCOPE code was used in the WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER, to produce those pretty patterns when music tracks play, but I really liked the CHIMES program. (*sigh* -- I need a computer with a WIN95/98 partition, just so I can load those 2 programs again -- I have them saved on a single floppy disk, and my passwords are in a notebook in storage.)

I'm fairly bright, but can be ascerbic or sarcastic if you're being stupid. I also have A/ADD (Adult Attention Deficit Disorder), which is not as yet OFFICIALLY diagnosed, since I don't have health insurance, and can't afford the doctor's appointment yet.

Yeah, the av looks a certain amount like the real me -- younger and thinner, but still me. My own hair was the classic Scandinavian white-blonde as a kid, got darker as I got older, and is now deep auburn on the lower layers near my back collar and light reddish-brown on the upper layers, but going silver around the front hairline. Both my real mother and stepmom had auburn hair, my dad's sisters were redheads, and my paternal 1st cousin has flaming red hair, so I tended to favor red hair in SL. I had a few other colors: there was a blonde "rocker" style I liked, and I had a couple of styles in white/silver. I varied the skin once in awhile, to a goth/vamp or a more rosy or tan skin tone, and I tried a couple of retail shapes (which are all non-mod, which is IRRITATING when you have to change shapes in order to look halfway decent in a dress -- some shapes look great in pants but make your ass look wide as a house in a dress), but I like being ME most of the time. I was thinking of getting an Asian skin , as I'm fairly sure I was Asian in at least one, if not more, previous lives -- and a friend of mine, who uses a dwarf av, gave me a female dwarf av which is pretty cute, and if I was going to be a furry, I'd be a cat, a bird (I'm a pilot's kid, right?), or a dragon.

PET PEEVES: -- SCALE in buildings and furniture; unedited height/width in forum/ad pics that distort the item's appearance -- used by lazy-ass and unprofessional sellers, whom I never bothered buying anything from

-- SPELLING in commercial ads (if you're trying to run a business and look professional, USE A DAMN SPELLCHECKER!)

-- CASINOS -- in SL, they are land, prim, and resource hogs -- bad neighbors, all around
FYI: I'm not a gambling freak -- I learned to play poker when I was 7 (due to an ankle injury, I couldn't walk for about 6 months, and spent alot of time on the home sofa playing cards with my mom, dad, brother, neighbor kids, babysitters, and our housekeeper -- also learned to play blackjack, checkers, gin, canasta, and chess then), and quit when I was 15 at the request of my dad, after my brother whined to him about losing his allowance to me... for 5 weeks in advance (bro John was not only a bad poker player, he's always been a very bad loser). More recently, when I've gone along for the ride with a friend to play the slots at the Charleston WV racetrack, I set an amount I can afford to lose, play until I either win a decent amount or hit my set loss limit, then go read a book at the bar.
-- CAMPING (the SL equivalent of beggars -- compounds resource hogging by the host businesses)
LAND: formerly owned a FIRST LAND lot in Clearwing
GROUPS: -- Avalon Galleria Merchants Assn.
--Beyond Tattoo
--Foundation for Rich Content

I don't consider nightclub VIP lists as "groups" in the same sense as "USEFUL organizations"; they are more useful for the nightclub owners, who thereby make it easier for their regular clientele to access their pseudo-events, raising their traffic numbers and dwell payments (now supposedly phased out). Therefore, though I was a VIP member at a few dance clubs at one time or another during my 2 active months -- that period when I could actually log in, until the continual updates kicked the hardware requirements beyond the capability of my system -- I won't list them. I found them really irritating when they IM'd the entire group every 20 mins to announce their next pseudo-event or dressup contest.
